Tutors play a vital role in the Aspirations programme - but with a multitude of other things going on, it can be difficult to keep track of what you need to do when.
This article will walk you through the key responsibilities of Tutors within an Aspirations programme:
- To begin with
- During each term
- At the end of each term
NB - if at any point you are unsure of what the Aspirations programme is trying to achieve, or what your role in it is, please speak with your Aspirations Lead.
To begin with
At the beginning of Aspirations programme, you may need to:
- Review the Students tab to ensure that you have been granted permission to view the right form(s), that the list of students is correct, and that their emails are spelled correctly - as otherwise they will be unable to login
- We also strongly recommend that you spend a bit of time just having a click around the platform, in order to familiarise yourself with it. In particular, you will need to use the Trends tab and individual student profile pages quite frequently during the programme.
During each term
During each term, you will need to:
- Run a student assessment for your form group - this article will teach you how to do this. Note that although you may be required to lead some student assessments, your Aspirations Lead should be responsible for co-ordinating them
- Conduct 1-1s with each student in your tutor group(s), and then log them in Aspire
- Flag any concerns you have regarding being able to get all of your 1-1s completed to your Aspirations Lead - they are there to support you!
- Complete Evaluations for each of your students
- Log conversations with any other students you happen to have meaningful discussions with during the term. Note that you can log a conversation with any student, but can only view the conversation histories of your tutor group(s)
You may also be involved in leading clubs & activities. If so, take a look at the article on scheduling activities & taking registers.
Should you at any point wish to look at a specific student's quiz responses/plan, you can do so by viewing their profile.
At the end of each term
Towards the end of each term, we suggest that you look through your Trends pages and use the data there to inform your plans for the next term. Please contact your Aspirations Lead if you are unsure of how to use this.
We hope you've found this guide useful. If you have any issues with using Aspire, please don't hesitate to contact our support team.
